Pastor says Afrobeats is rubbish, but our youths are just surviving

See ehn, I saw where Pastor Paul Enenche said Afrobeats musicians sing rubbish and corrupt youths. I just sat down and laughed. The man is entitled to his opinion, but let's be honest, these young artists are doing what they know to survive. The economy back home is not smiling at anybody. If music is the only door that opens, abeg let them sing.

My own children here in London, they listen to Burna Boy and Rema more than they listen to any gospel music. I won't lie, sometimes it worries me. But when I look at the message in some of those songs, it's just the reality of life. Poverty, love, struggle, party. That is what the youth are seeing every day. You cannot blame the singer for reflecting what is on the ground.

Instead of attacking the musicians, maybe we should ask why the system is not giving young people other options. If there were jobs and opportunities, maybe the songs would be different. Anyway, I don talk my own. Pastor is a man of God, but even God knows this generation is just fighting to survive.
