Atiku Abubakar don fire another shot at Aso Rock. The ADC presidential candidate say the Presidency is not a secret cult where only approved voices fit speak. E come through his spokesman Phrank Shaibu, and e dey demand immediate apology from President Bola Tinubu to Cardinal John Onaiyekan and the whole Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria.
You see wetin happen, Onaiyekan lead the bishops go Presidential Villa for visit. After the meeting, the cardinal come out and say Tinubu disagree with their assessment of economy and security. Tinubu insist say his administration dey on the right track. Shaibu talk say, "The Presidency is not a secret cult where only approved voices are permitted to speak. In a constitutional democracy, no one needs the permission of Aso Rock to tell the truth about the state of the nation." E also add say Catholic bishops no be political props or rented cheerleaders, dem be shepherds with moral obligation to speak truth to power.
This one na serious matter. The man say the cleric merely give voice to wetin millions of Nigerians dey discuss daily for homes, markets and churches. If this government confident for record, e go welcome criticism, but only insecure government dey wage war against honest voices. The question be say, when last we see any of these leaders come out and say sorry for anything? Na only praise singers dem dey reward. Una wey dey read this, you think say Tinubu go ever apologise, or this one go just enter one ear and comot for the other?
