The US has raised the entry bond for Nigerian business and tourist visa applicants to as high as $20,000, refundable only if you leave on time and follow every rule. This is on top of the visa fees, travel costs, and the usual stress of proving you're not planning to 'japa' permanently. The pilot already saw an 83 percent drop in visa demand, so the question is: is this a fair filter for genuine travellers, or just another way to lock out Africans who don't have that kind of cash sitting around? If you had the $20,000, would you even bother applying, or is this the final push to look elsewhere?
