Fuel price drop and I still can't afford to fill my tank. Make it make sense

So NNPCL finally reduced fuel pump price. Good news, abi? I checked my app this morning and did the calculation. Even with the drop, filling my Corolla from empty still takes a chunk that could feed a family for a week in another part of this country.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the reduction. Every naira counts when you're commuting from VI to Yaba daily. But the real issue is the exchange rate and how everything else is priced. The data suggests we're just getting a small band-aid on a wound that needs surgery.

My driver was celebrating like we won the World Cup. I just looked at him and said, my guy, this is still more than what we paid two years ago. He laughed because he knows it's true. We're all just managing expectations at this point. How far can this drop actually take us before the next increase?
