Wike says Atiku's 2027 run is dead on arrival with Amaechi as VP

Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Atiku Abubakar's chances of winning the 2027 presidential election are dead on arrival if he keeps Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate. Speaking at his monthly media chat in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike said, "Amaechi as the running mate to Atiku, I have come to know that it will be difficult for Atiku to be president, in all the calculations if you are choosing a vice presidential candidate, a running mate, I'm sure that the only factor that made him to choose Amaechi may be financial."

Wike went on to remind everyone that Buhari never pulled 25 percent with Amaechi as his campaign DG in 2015 and 2019, and boasted that he defeated Amaechi in Rivers State elections since 2011. He dismissed Amaechi as an asset to Rivers or the South South, asking what he actually brought to his people as governor or minister. He also mocked Amaechi for now benefiting from the ADC primary he once called corrupt. Is Wike just playing politics, or does he have a point about Amaechi's electoral value?
