Nigerian job interview wey dey ask about your village people instead of your skills

I went for an interview last week for a sales position. The man don finish asking about my experience, my qualifications, everything. Then he lean back, look me straight in the eye, and ask, 'So tell me, how do you handle pressure from your extended family?'

I just dey look am. I no know if he dey ask about actual job pressure or if he wan know how many cousins dey my compound. I tell am say, 'Sir, na the same way I handle market competition. I smile, I calculate, and I make sure my own side dey strong.' He start to laugh but I no sure if I answer correct.

Now I dey think. Maybe na so Nigeria don turn. Before dem dey ask 'where you see yourself in five years'. Now dem dey ask 'how many people dey your family meeting'. If na so, I for don prepare. I go tell am say my village people na my greatest motivators. When dem gather, I dey hustle harder. Chai! Who go hire person wey family dey too much?
