Amaechi says Tinubu sending attack dogs against Christians, I beg to differ
3 months ago
Rotimi Amaechi, the ADC presidential running mate, went on Channels Television's Politics Today on Tuesday and said he has a problem with President Bola Tinubu and his aides. According to him, they are sending attack dogs against the Christian faith and the Catholic Church. He said, "My problem is with Tinubu and his aides, he is sending out more attack dogs against the church and he has no respect for the Catholic church and the Christian faith."
Now, I am a Christian myself, a Catholic who grew up in Ibadan, and I take my faith seriously. But I have watched this government for over three years and I have not seen any official policy that targets Christians. What I see is a president who has Muslims and Christians in his cabinet, who attends church services, and who has never once ordered an attack on any church. So when Amaechi talks about attack dogs, I ask myself: where is the evidence? Is it not just politics, the usual opposition noise before an election?
Amaechi also quoted a village saying: "Carry your God with two hands so that when anybody sees you referencing your God they would join you." That is a wise proverb, but he should apply it to himself. Throwing accusations without proof is the same as throwing your God up and down. If he has specific cases of persecution, let him name them. Otherwise, this is just another politician using religion to gather votes. Be honest, has Tinubu's government really attacked the Catholic Church, or is this just campaign talk?
