Obasanjo and Atiku still fighting after 20 years, this one is not ending
3 months ago
Yesterday Reuben Abati wrote about the Obasanjo and Atiku feud and I just sat down and read the whole thing. These two men ruled Nigeria together from 1999 to 2007, and more than 20 years later they still dey at each other's throat. The article reminded us that Atiku was even the one who was so powerful in 2003 that Obasanjo had to beg him to allow him to stay as the candidate. Imagine that. The man you lifted up turned around and almost took your seat.
Abati said Atiku violated the first law of power: Never Outshine The Master. That is the whole story of Nigerian politics in one sentence. Since then, every election season, they bring out the old stories and the old anger. Now we are heading to 2027 and the same drama is starting again. Instead of these elders solving the problems of this country, they are still fighting over who was disloyal to who in 2003.
We have a new generation of voters in this country, people who were not even born when Obasanjo and Atiku were in power. But the same faces, the same fights, the same everything. Be honest, are you tired of these old men or do you think their fight still matters for 2027?
