A senior lawyer has called the proposed social media regulation bill dead on arrival, arguing it's an unconstitutional attempt to muzzle critics before the 2027 elections. He insists activists, opposition, and everyday Nigerians won't obey it, and that the National Assembly is just doing the executive's bidding. If the constitution is on our side and Nigerians refuse to comply, why are they even wasting time pushing this bill, or is the real goal just to create fear?The beauty of democracy is criticism and protest, not silencing them. Is this government genuinely scared of what Nigerians will say online in 2027, or is there a real problem with defamation that needs fixing?
