Nigerian parents and imported goods: the real reason our fridges stay empty

K

I just came back from Onitsha market, and I saw a woman buying a ₦250,000 blender. Not a blender wey go grind pepper, no. A Vitamix that cost more than my first tokunbo car. When I ask her what she go use am for, she say 'for smoothies' and continue standing in front of my phone stand, haggling ₦500 on a charger.

See my brother, this is the same woman wey go buy imported rice for Christmas because 'Naija rice no dey sweet', but she go use the same money to buy a NEPA generator that no dey work. Meanwhile her children dey drink garri for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I dey tell you, our people sabi suffer but dem no sabi suffer small. Na only imported suffering we sabi.

Anyway, I don't blame am. Na the same way we dey buy iPhone 15 Pro Max but still dey use MTN credit to browse. We just like expensive things wey no add value. Wetin be your own imported suffering? 😂😂
