Tinubu just exposed EFCC as his personal tool, ADC is right

The way President Bola Tinubu reversed the EFCC freezing of Osun State Government accounts is telling. The African Democratic Congress, ADC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the President only acted because of public outrage, not because he suddenly found conscience. And honestly, I think that analysis is spot on.

Abdullahi raised the question we should all be asking: the EFCC never once mentioned any court order while defending this action, so where did Tinubu get that information from? He said it plainly, "It is either the President was misinformed or he had chosen to misrepresent the facts. Either possibility is deeply disturbing." That is the real gist. If Tinubu can direct EFCC to stop, then he can also direct them to start. So what is the talk of independence?

We are sitting here watching the anti-graft agency being reduced to a political tool. The President's statement confirming he ordered the discontinuation just proves the agency answers to Aso Rock, not to the law. Be honest, if EFCC is this easily controlled, what hope do ordinary Nigerians have when they run into trouble with the government?
