Dele Momodu tells Adeleke: Osun election is APC's dress rehearsal for 2027
3 months ago
Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has issued a stark warning to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of next Saturday's governorship election. In a post on X, Momodu told Adeleke not to expect INEC, which he claims is under the complete control of President Bola Tinubu, to conduct a free, fair and credible election on August 15, 2026. He wrote: "Let no one deceive you that INEC, under the complete control of President Bola Tinubu will organize a free, fair and credible election in Osun State next week."
Momodu went further, alleging that the ruling APC is determined to use the Osun election as a "dress rehearsal" for their "nefarious preparation" for the presidential election in January 2027. He added: "The devil has taken possession of their hardened souls and they're ready to play God because of power." According to him, APC members in Osun have been directed to employ any means necessary to win, with the instruction to their foot-soldiers being: "grab Osun by any means necessary and deal with the resultant volcano thereafter."
This is a serious allegation, and it raises a question that should trouble every Nigerian who believes in democracy. If INEC cannot be trusted to conduct a credible election in Osun State, what hope do we have for the 2027 presidential election? The people of Osun deserve better than to be treated as a rehearsal ground for political manipulation. We must all watch closely and demand accountability from INEC and the federal government.
