Marriage is not a group project. Stop inviting your friends into it.

I watched my colleague's marriage nearly collapse because her best friend was in every argument they had. Every fight, she was on the phone with this friend, and the friend would fan the flame. By the time they came to the office, it was like a tribunal, not a marriage.
From where I sit in Abuja, I see this pattern too much. You marry one person, but suddenly you are married to their friends, their siblings, even their WhatsApp group chat. The policy says two people entered this covenant, but the reality says twenty people are managing it.
My honest counsel? Keep your marriage between you and your spouse. Friends give advice, but they don't wake up in your bed. They don't pay your rent. They don't carry your children. So why do they have a vote in your home? If you cannot settle a disagreement without calling three people first, you are not ready for marriage. Am I wrong?
