Nigerian parents will collect your hard earned money and still call you a burden
3 months ago
I just sent my mother 10k from my freelance money. Instead of thank you, she said, "Is that all? Your mate is building houses for his mother." I swear, if I didn't know she carried me for 9 months, I would think I was adopted.
It's like our parents have a special formula: whatever you give, na your mate wey dey do better. You buy them a new phone, they ask where the car is. You pay for their flight, they say your cousin is sponsoring his whole family to Mecca. The comparison never ends.
And the funny thing is, when you remind them say you still dey school, they go say, "Education is good, but your mate wey drop out dey manage." So which one do they want? Make I graduate or make I hustle? E be like say the answer is both, but the money is only one.
Anyway, I still sent the money. Because at the end of the day, na my mother. But next time, I go tell her say my mate's mother is a millionaire and she needs to step up. Let her taste her own medicine.
