Zacch Adedeji says Tinubu treks to office and eats once daily, Nigerians are not buying it

The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, has sparked fresh outrage after claiming on Channels Television's Sunday Politics that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu walks from his residence to the office, eats only once a day, and has not travelled abroad in three months. When asked about the Escalades in the presidential convoy, Adedeji retorted, "How much is an Escalade that the president of Nigeria cannot afford? Please don't embarrass this country."

Nigerians on X are furious. User Israel Denson wrote, "These guys are playing on our intelligence way too much and all I say to them is 'continue pushing Nigerians until they wake up', and the day they do? 'No one tabl£ will be left on-turned'." Another user, Raul, said, "It's like saying I used to bath naked. Only criminals that are heartless reason this way." Meanwhile, Theta simply asked, "This is dumb and he is supposed to be NRS chairman."

This comes as Nigerians battle a cost-of-living crisis, with headline inflation at 15.91 percent and food inflation at 17.52 percent, and a minimum wage of just N70,000. So while the president allegedly treks, millions cannot afford transport to work, and while he eats once a day, families are skipping meals entirely. The question is simple: who exactly is Adedeji trying to convince, and does he think we are all blind?
