The day my pension money disappeared and I sold my radios
3 months ago
Two years ago, I was expecting my pension payment after 33 years of service. The money was supposed to come after my retirement, but it never did. I waited and waited, going to the office every month, only to be told "next week" or "we are processing it."
My wife and I had saved a little, but it was not enough. The children were helping, but I did not want to be a burden. So I started selling my vintage radios, the ones I had collected for over 20 years. Each one had a story, but hunger does not understand stories.
The worst part was when a colleague I trusted, a man I had worked with for years, told me to pay him some money to "fast-track" the payment. I gave him a small amount, and he disappeared. I never saw him again.
In the end, I borrowed from friends and sold the radios. My pension eventually came, but the lesson stayed. Patience is the father of wisdom, but sometimes you must also be wise enough to know when to let go.
