Mohammed Ma'aji says he led coup against Tinubu out of patriotism, not ambition

Mohammed Ma'aji, the man at the centre of the alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu, has finally broken his silence. In an interview published yesterday, Ma'aji claimed he acted out of patriotism, not personal ambition. He said, "I led coup against Tinubu because of patriotism, not ambition."

This is a man who allegedly tried to topple a democratically elected government, and he wants us to believe it was for the good of the country. If that is patriotism, then what is treason? The question Nigerians should be asking is simple: who else was involved, and what was the real endgame?
