Ten policemen and seventeen bandits gone in one Kebbi gunfight, plus two civilians caught in the crossfire. The police call it a victory, but ten families are burying their breadwinners and the bandits are still out there regrouping. Every time we hear “operation successful,” we count our own dead and ask if this is truly progress. When will we stop measuring success by body counts and start asking why these criminals keep finding new recruits?
