Obasanjo finally said what many of us have been feeling: we copied a system where "opposition" means enemy, so every election becomes a fight to the death instead of a debate. Winner-takes-all isn't democracy, it's a coronation with ballot boxes. If our own languages have no word for "loyal opposition," how do we expect this foreign model to fit our politics?
