Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, was in Bauchi yesterday and he did not hold back. He accused our senators and House of Representatives members of removing forgery as an offence in electoral matters, and he said Senior Advocates of Nigeria are now the ones defending forgery. He did not stop there, he also said religious leaders are praying for criminals, asking God to bless politicians who have no business holding public office.

Obi went further to say our judges are now singing 'on your mandate we stand', which is a serious indictment of the judiciary. He reminded us that when he was governor of Anambra State, a justice of the Supreme Court he had never met wrote the entire judgment that made him governor. He said he only met that justice two years after he became governor, and he asked where you would get that type of judgment in Nigeria today. He said it is impossible now.

He was in court for three years challenging his election, and past judges he never met gave judgment in his favour. That cannot happen in Nigeria today, he said. He urged all of us to remember that the unexamined life is not worth living, and it is time for every Nigerian to sit down and ask ourselves where this country is going. My question is simple, if the people who make our laws, defend our cases, pray for our leaders and judge our disputes are all compromised, what is left for the common man?
