I Used Juju on a Man I Loved. Here Is What Happened to Both of Us.

Back in 2019, I was 28 and living in Kano. I had been dating this man, Musa, for two years. He was a businessman, 41, and I loved him with everything. But he was drifting. He started coming home late, picking calls in the bathroom. I knew something was wrong. My friend Aisha told me about a babalawo in Sabon Gari who could 'tie' a man. I laughed at first, but desperation is a different thing, my people. I went. He gave me a small leather pouch and told me to mix the powder inside into Musa's food. I did it, in his rice one evening. Omo, the change was immediate. He became clingy, calling me ten times a day, asking where I was. He even stopped seeing his friends. I was happy, you know? I thought it worked. But then, he started having nightmares. He would wake up screaming, saying something was choking him. He lost weight. He stopped eating. He said he felt like someone was controlling his mind. I watched him become a shadow of himself. The guilt, ehn. It was eating me alive. I went back to the babalawo to reverse it, but he said it was already done, that the spirit had attached itself. Musa eventually left Kano for Kaduna. He said he needed to breathe. I have not seen him since. I still have the pouch. I keep it in a box under my bed. Sometimes I think about burning it, but I am afraid of what will happen if I do. The lesson I learned? You cannot force someone to love you. If you have to use juju, that love is not real. And the price you pay, ehn, it is more than money. It is your conscience. And maybe, just maybe, his peace. I am not even sorry for doing it, because I was hurting. But I am sorry for what it did to him. Love that needs a charm is not love. It is a cage. And I have been living in my own cage ever since.
