Naira don bounce back but my pocket no go green, abi na only me?

I wake up this morning, read the news say dollar don drop. Naira dey appreciate, they say. I look my pocket, nothing change. The price of garri and beans for Bodija market still high. My pension still same. So who this one favour exactly?

In my time in the civil service, when exchange rate move, everything adjust small small. But now, the naira strong for paper, yet the market no gree follow. The woman wey dey sell pepper for Oja Oba, she no dey read Bloomberg. She just know say her supplier don increase price again. So tell me, this naira appreciation, na for those wey dey carry dollar for pillow or na for everybody?

I no be economist, but I know say the poor man wey dey buy fuel for generator, the mother wey dey buy milk for pikin, the young man wey dey send money to japa brother, all of una still dey feel am. The naira don smile for newspaper, but the market no dey smile for us. Abi I dey wrong? Make una tell me, this dollar drop don ever put extra money for una pocket before?
