Senator Fadahunsi reports to Osun Police over viral 'kill them' comment

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East in the National Assembly, arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo yesterday around 2:35pm, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Erale. His visit followed a police invitation over a viral video in which he allegedly instructed supporters to attack members of the rival Accord Party during an APC campaign rally in Ilesa.

In the video, Fadahunsi is heard saying in Yoruba: "Which kind life be dis? We no want hear anytin about di Accord Party again for Ilesa. How many pipo APC pipo don kill, no be una pipo dem dey kill? We don come tell una, until di day of di election, if you see dem, kill dem." The senator, however, insists the video is AI-generated and that his actual words were "kill dem by dia votes". He claims his 24-minute speech was deliberately edited by Davido, who posted the clip, to misrepresent him. The police letter, signed by Commissioner Erale, describes his statements as "threatening, inciting, and intimidating" and has summoned him to the SCID.

This comes just two days before the Osun governorship election on Saturday, 15 August. Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi has made it clear that no one is above the law, stating, "Even pipo wey no reach im status, we dey normally write invitation letters give dem." The question now is whether this video will shape the election outcome, and what happens if the senator's explanation fails to convince the police.
