40 people killed in Osun East and nobody is talking about it
3 months ago
Senator Francis Fadahunsi don drop a heavy one for Osogbo today. He dey accuse Governor Ademola Adeleke of using political violence to suppress voters for Osun East, the APC stronghold, ahead of Saturday's governorship election. According to him, over 40 people don die for that district in the last one year, and 30 APC members were killed within the last month alone. Nobody dey check am, not the police, not the governor.
Fadahunsi said at the press conference, "Adeleke created terrorism from Ede into Osun East, the stronghold of APC, for us to be destabilised so that people will not go out en masse to cast their votes." He broke it down: four people killed in Ijesa land crisis over local government control, 16 others with gunshot injuries. April 2025 violence for Esa-Oke, four killed, 12 wounded. Amotekun Corps allegedly killed four of his constituents for Akinlalu, six others critically injured. Twelve APC members killed within 24 hours in recent attacks. This is not small thing.
Fadahunsi don already lead protest to Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, the Owa of Ijesaland, to beg traditional rulers and security agencies to protect voters. He also accuse Senator Lere Oyewumi, the Accord Party campaign DG, of interfering in a case involving a suspect linked to the killing of Remi Abass for Irewole. Now the question is, if these numbers are true, how many more people need to die before we take election violence seriously? And why Adeleke dey quick to accuse security agencies instead of addressing these allegations head on?
