ABSU lecturer suspended for saying keke riders earn more than professors. He is not lying

I saw the news about that ABSU lecturer wey dem suspend because he talk say keke riders dey earn more than professors. My first reaction na laugh, then I remember say na true talk. The man no lie, e just talk wetin everybody dey think.

Look at it this way. A professor wey don spend 20 years for academia dey earn maybe N300k monthly if e lucky. A keke rider for Umuahia wey dey hustle from 6am go 9pm fit clear N5k to N7k daily. Multiply that by 30, e dey reach N150k to N210k. Add the fact say keke rider no dey pay tax, no dey submit research papers, no dey attend senate meetings. The man wey dey carry passengers for Aba fit even do better than that.

I no dey support say dem suspend am o. But the thing wey pain me be say instead of una to suspend the lecturer, make una ask why e dey true. Our people say a child wey says his father's soup is bitter is not insulting the father, he is telling you the soup is bitter. The professor just dey do his job. The real question be say why we dey pay the people wey dey shape our future like dem no matter? When last una see young person wey wan become lecturer because of passion? Everybody dey run go tech, banking, or japa. The system don spoil and this suspension na just plaster for a wound wey dey bleed.
