I Was Married for 8 Years. I Still Carried Another Woman for 2 Years in Aba.

My name is not important. I am 41 now, but back in 2023, I was a 39-year-old businessman in Aba, selling spare parts at the main market. I had a wife at home in Umahia, three kids, and a shop that was doing okay. But okay was not enough for me. That was the problem. I met her at a customer's shop. She was 27, a trader selling phone accessories. She was not even the most beautiful woman I had seen, but there was something about her that made me come back to that shop every week. Before I knew it, I was buying her lunch, then paying her shop rent, then I was in her house in Ogbor Hill. For two years, I lived two lives. I told my wife I was going to Onitsha for business every weekend. I told the other woman I was divorced. I had two phones, two SIM cards, two calendars. The near-miss that broke me was when my wife called while I was in the other woman's bed. I picked up, said 'my brother, I will call you back,' and she said, 'Since when do you call me your brother?' That was the day I knew I was playing with fire. I ended it last year. Not because I was caught, but because I looked at my daughter's face and saw the lies I was feeding her with my life. I gave the other woman some money to start her own life and I told my wife everything. She cried, but she stayed. We are still together, but trust is not the same. Omo, if you cannot handle the truth, do not start the lie. The cost of a double life is not the money you spend, it is the pieces of yourself you lose along the way.
