My roommate borrowed my last 2k for data, now he's avoiding me like plague

So this morning I opened my purse, the one I hide under my mattress, and the 2,000 naira I kept for today's feeding was gone. Just like that. My roommate, the same guy I've been sharing garri with since 100 level, took it without asking. He left a note that said "I go pay you back by Friday, I swear." Today is Friday.

I've been calling him since 7am. He's not picking up. I checked his side of the room, his bag is still there, his charger is still there. But the man is gone like he's avoiding a court summons. The funny thing is, this is the same guy who cried on my shoulder when his girlfriend broke up with him last semester. I bought him suya that day with my last 500 naira.

Na so money dey expose people true colour. I'm not even angry about the 2k, it's the principle. If you tell me say you need money for something, I go try my best. But to just collect and vanish? That one is different. I've started checking under his mattress to see if he left my money there by mistake. Nothing.
