I paid for my own bride price and now my husband acts like he owns me

When I got married, my husband couldn't afford the bride price. His family was struggling and he was ashamed. So I quietly gave him the money to pay my own people. He doesn't know I know, but I saw the envelope he took from my drawer.

Now he carries himself like a big man. Talks to me anyhow, says I should respect him because he 'paid' for me. I just laugh inside. The audacity.

I don't even regret it, because I love him. But some days I wonder, if he ever finds out, will he ever forgive me for taking his manhood? Or is this my cross to carry forever?
