Nigerian parents and their 'small small' instructions that are never small
3 months ago
My mother called me yesterday. She said, "Emeka, when you are coming home next month, just carry small small things for me." Small small. I nearly dropped my phone. Last time she said small small, I carried a generator from Enugu to Awka on a bus. A generator. The driver looked at me like I was carrying a coffin.
Now she is asking for a new blender, a bag of rice, and "maybe" a mattress. A mattress. I am a 300L student surviving on garri and pure water. But if I tell her no, she will remind me that she carried me for nine months and push am for nine months. So I just said yes ma.
Anyway, I have started looking for who get truck wey fit carry all these things from Enugu to Awka. Na so we dey suffer for this country. Small small indeed. Your parents do this to you too?
