My mum thinks my remote job is fake, so I built her a fake office

My mother called me this morning to ask why I wasn't 'going to work' on a Saturday. I told her remote work doesn't have weekends, she said 'ehn, so you just dey house'. I decided to end this argument permanently.

I went to Computer Village, bought a second-hand Dell laptop for ₦85k, a fake ID card with some made-up company name, and a lanyard. I told her I got 'transferred' to a new office in Lekki and I need to resume by 7am every day. She smiled, said 'my son is a big man now' and offered to pack me lunch.

Now I wake up at 6:30am, drive to a coworking space in Lekki, sit there doing my actual US job, and drive back at 6pm. The numbers say this costs me ₦120k monthly in rent and fuel. But the data also says my mother's peace of mind is priceless. Lagos is a special kind of chaos, my guys.

Which one of una parents still think working from home means you're unemployed?
