Men dressed as police storm Osun election centre with teargas
3 months ago
Men allegedly dressed as police officers stormed a distribution centre in Modakeke, Osun State this morning and fired teargas to disrupt the distribution of election materials. An X user, Oyindampla, posted a video and wrote, "Serious drama this morning in Osun state as some men dressed as Police Officers Allegedly Storm Centre in Modakeke, Fire Tear Gas and Disrupt Distribution of Osun Election Material."
This is happening as voters prepare to elect the next governor of Osun State, with 15 political parties on the ballot. Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking re-election under the Accord Party, while two candidates, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro of APGA and Simon Adewale of APM, have withdrawn and endorsed other candidates.
We keep talking about free and fair elections, but how can we trust the process when people are willing to dress as police and fire teargas at election officials? If this is how it starts, what will happen when results are being counted?
