Adeleke says APC wants to change Osun results, demands release of PDP chairman

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has condemned the arrest of the state PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, and called for his immediate release. The arrest happened at Bisi's residence in Ilesa shortly after he returned from voting in Saturday's governorship election. Adeleke said Bisi was taken to an undisclosed location with no reason given.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke accused the APC of working with compromised security agents to restrict monitoring of collation. He said, "This latest sweep on my supporters, I have authoritatively learnt, is part of a broader plan to give the APC unhindered access to change results at collation centres and upturn our wins at the poll." He described it as an attack on democracy.

This is not just about one man. If a state chairman can be picked up in the middle of an election with no explanation, what chance does the ordinary voter have? Adeleke also called for the release of other "political prisoners" across Osun State. The question is, can INEC and the security agencies still be trusted to deliver a credible result after this?
