My mum called me this morning, sweet voice and all. 'Tope, your father's friend is coming to Lagos, I told him you'll host him for two days.' Two days?? In this my one-room-and-parlour in Lekki?? The man is coming with his wife and three children!

I asked her, 'Mummy, where will seven people sleep?' She just said, 'Small small, God dey. You have that sofa that opens, and you have the balcony.' BALCONY. She thought she ate with that one.

Nigerian parents will volunteer your house, your car, your money, and your sanity without blinking. But ask them for a generator and they'll tell you 'we don't have money'. The audacity. Shey una parents dey do this too??
