Japa life sweet for abroad but our people dey forget say home sweet pass

My sister wey don stay UK for seven years come back last month. When she land Lagos, she just stand for airport and start crying. I say wetin happen, she say she no know say Nigeria dey this alive. The woman dey talk say over there she dey work like horse, dey pay rent wey go finish salary, and nobody know her name. But here, e get people wey go call her when she sick, wey go vex when she no pick call.

I no dey talk say japa no good o. The thing get why. But this idea wey some people get say abroad na paradise, na lie. Our people say a child wey dey carry another man's load go still come back to carry im own. I have seen people wey don stay abroad for twenty years, still dey talk say they go come back one day. One day when? When they don old? When their children don forget how to speak Igbo?

Look at it this way. The money for abroad dey sweet, no doubt. But the life? The loneliness? The way you go dey look your phone for Sunday afternoon because you no get anybody to visit? That one no dey for any salary. I no be one of those pastors wey go say God say stay for Nigeria. But I go say make we open our eyes. Home dey hard, but home dey know your name. Which one you prefer?
