Adeleke wins again but EFCC account freeze nearly scatter everything
3 months ago
So INEC don finally declare Ademola Adeleke of Accord party as winner of Saturday's Osun governorship election. Returning Officer Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole announce am yesterday with Adeleke polling 511,067 votes against APC's Bola Oyebamiji wey get 444,815. That is a clear margin, no shaking there.
But the real gist na wetin happen before election. EFCC freeze Osun State account over suspected fraud, and President Bola Tinubu personally come out to say he feel "deeply embarrassed" not because EFCC do their job, but because of the timing. The man even direct EFCC to vacate the court order. Plus Davido, Adeleke nephew, don call on US President Donald Trump to monitor the situation. All this drama before the votes even count.
Now Adeleke go serve another four years, and for somebody wey first lose in 2019 to Adegboyega Oyetola, then win in 2022, then leave PDP for Accord because of internal wahala, this one na sweet revenge. But my question be say, if EFCC no comot that freeze, election fit still hold? And wetin this one mean for the next big election?
