Adeleke wins big in Osun, APC rejects result already

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has polled 511,067 votes in Saturday's Osun governorship election, beating APC's Bola Oyebamiji who scored 444,815. INEC has concluded collation from all LGAs and is set to declare Adeleke winner. This is a landslide of over 66,000 votes, and the ADC came a distant third with just 17,180.

Fifteen parties were on the ballot, but this was always a two-horse race between Adeleke and Oyebamiji. The margin is significant enough that any court challenge will be an uphill battle, but you know how these things go in Nigeria. The real question is whether the APC will accept this result or drag us through another tribunal circus.

For a state that has seen its fair share of electoral drama, this is a clear statement from Osun voters. They have chosen continuity, and I think that says something about how the people feel about Adeleke's first term. Do you think this result will hold, or are we in for another long legal battle?
