Osun election will expose Tinubu's 'all is fair' comment, Laolu Akande warns

Laolu Akande, former spokesman to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has thrown a direct challenge at President Bola Tinubu over his 'all is fair in politics' comment. Speaking on his Channels Television programme Inside Sources on Friday, Akande said Saturday's Osun governorship election is the first real test of that statement, and the world is watching.

He asked the question many of us are too afraid to voice: is it fair that EFCC tried to freeze Osun State government's account just before the poll, an action the President hurriedly reversed? Is it fair that we have killings and blood on the streets in the run-up to voting? Akande said, "Osun Decides is the first test of all is fair in politics with EFCC's moves, viral threats and blood on the streets, Saturday's poll will signal what 2027 election would look like."

Tinubu had told the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa, "Those who would take it from me will try. They will try. All is fair in politics, and there is equal opportunity." Now the President's own words are hanging over Osun like a cloud. If this is what 'fair' looks like, what will 2027 bring?
