Last year, after 35 years in the civil service, I finally retired. I thought I had done everything right. My papers were in order. But when I went to collect my pension, they told me there was a mix-up. My file was missing. I waited three months. I called, I wrote letters, I visited every office. Nothing. My savings were finished. I had to borrow from my friend, Alhaji Sule, who just laughed and said, "Kunle, this is Nigeria." I was angry. I prayed. Then one day, a young man in the office found my file under a pile of papers. He said, "Sorry sir, it was just misplaced." I got my money. It taught me that patience is not weakness. It is the wisdom to know that time reveals what haste conceals.
