Food prices don tire me, but my mama's soup still worth every naira

My sister just called from Ibadan, she was crying about the price of pepper. I tell you, e no easy for anybody right now. Six months straight the prices don dey climb, even when them talk say inflation dey ease. My own people, when last una buy fresh tomatoes wey no make una eyes water?

I remember when I was coming to London in 2008, I used to buy a big basket of tomatoes for my mama for less than what one sachet cost now. But here's the thing, my mama still manages to make the best efo riro with whatever she finds. She say, 'Bose, money dey come and go, but family soup na forever.' That woman she no get degree but she sabi life pass all of us.

God is faithful, but e no mean say we no go suffer. I just keep sending what I can, and she keeps stretching it. Sometimes I wonder if we ever go see better days for that country. But then I remember my mama's face when she opens the transfer notification, and I know say we still dey try. Anybody else just dey manage to make ends meet?
