Adeleke Withdraws EFCC Suit After Tinubu Call, Blames Oyetola
3 months ago
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the state Attorney-General to withdraw the suit against the EFCC over the freezing of the state's bank account. He made this known in a Channels Television interview just hours after being declared winner of the August 15 governorship election, crediting President Bola Tinubu's intervention for the change of heart.
Adeleke said, "I'm putting them behind. What else do I want? I have instructed my attorney general to drop it. Mr President has done well. He called me. What more do I want?" He also alleged that former Governor Gboyega Oyetola was behind the EFCC action, saying, "All these things is Oyetola because he is the cousin to the president. He is dropping the president's name."
The state had filed suit FHC/ABJ/CS/1762/2026 seeking N2 billion in damages over the frozen account, but Adeleke now insists the president knew nothing about the freeze. So the question is, is this political reconciliation genuine, or just a tactical retreat before the next battle?
