APC allegedly spent N60b on vote buying in Osun, Fayose claims
3 months ago
Isaac Fayose is alleging that the APC spent a staggering N60 billion to buy votes in the just-concluded Osun State governorship election. He said this on Monday during an interview on News Central Television, and the amount is enough to make any Nigerian's head spin. Where exactly does a political party get that kind of money, and why is the EFCC not asking questions?
Fayose did not hold back. He said, "The APC bought votes worth about N60 billion. When you buy votes worth N60 billion, where did they get this money from?" He also accused the police of using armoured vehicles to snatch ballot boxes, something he says has never happened before. He insists that without vote buying, the APC would not have secured 100,000 votes in that election.
This is taxpayer money, our money, being thrown around like confetti while INEC and the security agencies look the other way. The question is, what is the EFCC actually doing about this, or is this just business as usual in Nigerian elections?
