Nigerian parents and the mystery of the missing charger
3 months ago
My mum called me this morning, voice full of authority: "Kola, where is my phone charger? I left it on the table." I checked the table. Nothing. Checked the drawer. Nothing. I even checked the kitchen, don't ask me why. Then I found it. Under the sofa cushion. With the TV remote. And a half-eaten biscuit.
This is the same woman who will tell you she doesn't touch your things, but our house is a graveyard of lost chargers, missing keys, and vanished spectacles. I swear, if you search her handbag you go find three chargers, two power banks, and the remote control we lost in 2021. She will still insist she has nothing.
I don't know which one is worse, the charger drama or when she asks me to "check my phone" for her and I find 47 unread messages and a game she downloaded. Nigerian parents and technology, e no balance at all. But we love them, no be so?
