Subsidy removal saved N15.8tn , but where did the money really go?

So the government says removing fuel subsidy and floating the naira freed up N15.8tn between June 2023 and December 2025. Federal share was N5.4tn, yet they spent N9.39tn on wages alone. That means they borrowed N11.9tn extra to cover the gap. If the savings were so massive, why is the average Nigerian still feeling the squeeze more than the relief?
