So a 22-year-old prisoner just walked out of Maiduguri's maximum security facility and the authorities are only asking us to be vigilant and call some numbers. If maximum security can't keep one man inside, what exactly are we paying for with our taxes? The same system that can't secure its own walls now expects everyday Nigerians to do their job by tracking down a missing inmate. When will we stop being the backup security for institutions that can't secure themselves?
