Atiku Dares Tinubu: Where is the N30 Trillion Subsidy Windfall?

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging President Bola Tinubu to account for nearly N30 trillion in Federation revenues and savings linked to the petrol subsidy removal. In a statement released today, Atiku, now of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says the July 2026 Federation Account figures reveal massive disparities that demand urgent explanation.

Atiku's team, through his spokesman Phrank Shaibu, highlighted that while gross statutory revenue for July stood at N4.359 trillion, only N3.007 trillion was approved for distribution by FAAC. He also cited June figures showing N4.501 trillion in available revenue against N2.551 trillion actually shared. "Where is the subsidy-removal windfall?" Atiku asked. "These are not accounting footnotes. This is the wealth of the Nigerian people."

He is demanding a month-by-month, beneficiary-by-beneficiary ledger from June 2023. "If the approximately N30 trillion is properly accounted for, President Tinubu should publish the ledger and show Nigerians where every naira went," he added. The question now is simple: will the President open the books, or will this be another N30 trillion that disappears into the black hole of official secrecy?
