Dem say dem save N15.8 trillion from subsidy, but we still dey suffer?

Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele yesterday release breakdown of wetin dem do with the N15.8 trillion wey dem save from fuel subsidy removal between June 2023 and December 2025. E say federal govment collect N5.4 trillion, states and local govment share N10.4 trillion. But wait, dem still borrow extra N11.9 trillion for that same period. So if you save money, why you still dey borrow? Abeg make dem explain that one well.

Oyedele say dem spend N9.39 trillion for wages, N9.37 trillion for external debt servicing, and N6.5 trillion for infrastructure. E talk say the wage increase pass the total subsidy savings. And the debt service don blow up because of naira devaluation. E use example say, "If we dey pay $1 million bifor for interest on foreign debt, na still di same $1 million, but instead of N460, e don turn N1,415 now." So we dey pay more naira for same dollar debt. President Bola Tinubu don say e go use the money for better things, but Aba people still dey feel the heat. This economy sef.
