Terrorists Give Zamfara Community 7 Days To Pay ₦50Million Or Face Attack
about 2 months ago
Residents of Talata Mafara LGA in Zamfara State have been handed a seven-day ultimatum by terrorists to raise ₦50 million, 50 cattle and 50 sheep, or face another attack. The armed men reportedly walked into the community's open market and delivered the demand directly to the people they have been terrorising for months.
One resident told SaharaReporters, "They have taken our farmlands and rustled our cattle, but we have not seen any serious response from the security agencies. Now they have become so bold that they can enter our market and give us a deadline to bring them money and animals." Another resident said, "They are no longer hiding. They are coming into the market openly and giving us orders."
This comes after a July attack on Sauna Ward where 22 farmers were killed in broad daylight between 2pm and 5pm, with the attackers moving on motorcycles across nearly 50 kilometres through villages like Ruwan Gora, Zauren Gora, Tulluwa and Unguwar Shanu. Residents are asking the Zamfara State Government and security agencies to act before the seven days expire. The question nobody in Abuja wants to answer is simple: when did Nigerian communities start paying tax to bandits?
