Peter Obi Said He Never Had First Lady Office And People Are Still Angry

Peter Obi has finally opened his mouth about that N250 million Hermès bag his wife Margaret allegedly carried and honestly the man's answer is so simple it is annoying people. He was speaking in Washington DC and he said his wife has her own business and her own money, so what is his business if she buys expensive things with her money. He even said the bags and shoes she wears, he does not know how much they cost.

But the part that got me is when he said she is actually a bit less sophisticated now, that before he became governor she was even more sophisticated. And he reminded everybody that as governor of Anambra he never had an office of First Lady and he does not even celebrate his own birthday. Now half of Nigeria is saying if the man is truly prudent why is his wife carrying a bag that can buy three plots in Enugu, and the other half is saying a woman's money is her own money, abeg.

My own take is simple. We keep mixing up a man's public discipline with his wife's private business. In Balogun market women own shops and buy what they like with their profit, nobody goes to ask their husband. But let us be honest, if the same bag was on Aisha Buhari or Remi Tinubu's arm, would Obi's supporters be this calm?
