My mother-in-law has been putting something in my food for 3 years

I found out last month. My husband's mother, the same woman who calls me 'my daughter' every Sunday after church, has been mixing something into the stew she sends us every week. Three years. Every single week.

I was cleaning out the freezer and found a small nylon bag at the bottom, wrapped inside an old newspaper. Inside was this dark powder with a smell I cannot even describe. I asked my husband and he just went quiet. Then he said his mother has been doing it since we got married because she wanted us to stay together. She went to a babalawo in Ibadan. My husband knew. He knew all along.

When I confronted her, she did not even deny it. She said she was protecting her son's marriage. She said I should be grateful. My own mother is in Ibadan praying for me every day and this woman is busy doing juju on my food. I have been eating that thing for 3 years. I do not know what it has done to my body. I do not know if I can ever trust food from that house again. The worst part? My husband is asking me to forgive her because she is his mother.
