The day I counted my money 3 times and still cried inside the toilet
about 2 months ago
That Wednesday morning, I enter my stall at Mile 12, open my small bag, count the money wey remain from yesterday. I count am three times. Same amount. ₦8,400. My two apprentices dey look me, waiting for chop money.
I just carry the bag, enter that dirty toilet behind the tomato section, sit down on the bucket. No tear fall. Nothing. My body just cold. I remember my husband voice say 'Ngozi, you go survive this one too.' That man don go 6 years now but e still dey talk to me.
I come out, buy two cups of garri from Mama Bola, give my boys one each. We open market. By evening, God show face. A woman from Ikoyi come buy tomatoes for her catering, pay me ₦45,000 cash. I no ask her name. I just say thank you Jesus.
Some mornings the bag empty. Some evenings it full. Which one una dey experience this week?
